This website is a portfolio of works completed by Mike Norton as a self employed carpenter, working alongside several other companies.  Mike Norton has extensive knowledge of the construction, restoration and repair of oak frames and is highly skilled in reading the timber in order to give the best possible result and finished product.  His in-depth knowledge and experience of the joints and stresses within an oak frame means that the frame will always be built to endure.

Mike will be setting up his own framing business in Normandy, France in the near future, and is currently working with Norton Timber Ltd in the UK with whom we hope to maintain a working relationship.  The new workshop near Mortain will benefit from lower overheads and access to the many quality sawmills in France where their oak is harvested and replanted, thus ensuring a renewable building resource for future generations.  We will soon be bringing you a selection of plans for cart sheds, oak framed garden offices and garden rooms that will be supplied at a set price.

Some of the projects in his portfolio are those of Norton Timber Ltd, which employs two other carpenters who have benefited enormously in learning the skills of an oak framed carpenter by working alongside Mike and learning the traditional methods. Some other projects were commissioned by Oak Houses and Harlow Period Oak, and some were completed as a self employed carpenter.
